Why we exist
AI coding tools became the default faster than any tool before them. Engineers use Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, and Aider interchangeably throughout the day. The code ships. The prompt is forgotten by the time the PR merges.
Six months later a bug surfaces in a block nobody recognizes. git blame shows a name — but not that the line was AI-generated, not the prompt, not the risk it carried. LineageLens captures that missing layer at the moment of generation, and keeps it on infrastructure you control.
What we believe
- Provenance is infrastructure. Knowing the origin of your code is as fundamental as version control.
- Your data is yours. Self-hosted isn’t a feature — it’s the whole product. There is no cloud.
- Governance shouldn’t change the workflow. One env var. Your tools see no difference.
- Honesty over hype. We tell you exactly what’s heuristic, what’s not certified, and what’s out of scope.
Open source
Base and Lite are MIT-licensed and open-source. The proxy, backend, extension, MCP server, and CLI all live in one repository. Issues and PRs are welcome.
